DOSwriter was coded in Android Studio in 2026. I have tested it on Moto G (circa 2023), Samsung S24 (2024), Lenovo Tab One (2025). It works on the Boox Color Go 7, Bigme 6 color, and Samsung Galaxy A71.
I have used it with the Keychron B1P-K1 Bluetooth keyboard and an Artek HB305-4B.
It would not install on a Samsung A 10 inch (2019) which is an older Android device. DOSwriter probably won't work for your old phones and devices.
DOSwriter may get sluggish on large files (over 5K words).
Based on user feedback I made improvements to large file handling (over 5K words). It turns out that Typewriter Mode scrolling works well for large text files.
I added an option in Ctrl-L>Settings>Cursor>Auto Typewriter (Large Files): ON or OFF
Typewriter Mode is auto-enabled on large text files when this option is set to ON.
Now that the basic feature set has been developed I will work on optimizing file handling and viewport behavior. As DOSwriter allows font and margin control some combinations may be awkward. Any feedback from users is highly appreciated.
